The beavers have been busy building over a half dozen dams along the three main forks of the Rockaway River inlet. That's what beavers do, after all. Where do you think the expression "busy as a beaver" comes from? When the water is high you can just get over them in your boat and go farther upstream, where you'll find … another beaver dam.

Where do they get all their dam and lodge construction material? Wherever they can reach it.
Sharp teeth, strong jaws, clean cuts.
They eat the layer just under the bark. Not trying to take the tree down here, just enjoying dinner. As long as the bark isn't stripped all the way around, the tree should heal. Serviceberry trunk shown below.
